A world built for extremes
55 Cancri e is a super-Earth: a planet larger than Earth, rather than a promise of Earth-like conditions. Its close orbit makes it one of the most striking known examples of a highly irradiated rocky world.

Your name for it: Planet Brenda
An intensely heated rocky world, orbiting so close to its star that its year lasts less than a day.
Values are rounded estimates and may be refined by further observations. Personal names remain ceremonial.

Values are rounded from published catalogue measurements. Sky coordinates identify the host system, not a resolved planetary surface.
55 Cancri e is a super-Earth: a planet larger than Earth, rather than a promise of Earth-like conditions. Its close orbit makes it one of the most striking known examples of a highly irradiated rocky world.
Its host system lies in Cancer, about 41 light-years away. Janssen is the recognised proper name for 55 Cancri e. Your gift name remains a personal dedication; it does not replace either astronomical name.
Webb observations reported in 2024 support a secondary atmosphere, possibly containing carbon monoxide or carbon dioxide, above a likely molten surface. The gases and their abundance remain questions for research, rather than settled ingredients for a holiday brochure.
Our reconstruction uses molten light, dark rock and a heated limb to express the extreme conditions. The pattern of lava cracks, visible surface texture and exact haze are artistic choices. No telescope has photographed those features.
The catalogue records a 2004 radial-velocity discovery. This method detects changes in a star’s motion caused by orbiting planets. Subsequent transit and infrared observations have helped astronomers investigate the planet’s size and atmosphere.
Choose a ceremonial name and dedication for a planet poster with its real designation, host star and orbital information. The certificate records the gift naming; it conveys no ownership, scientific recognition or exclusive claim.
